Drama and Improv' Company

The Company

The Company
Impossible Theatre is a company launched by two French Actresses: Candice and Caroline.
These deux mademoiselles are French native speakers and fluent in English. Each of them settled in London and worked in different popular companies like French British Improvisation, Exchange Theatre and RSC Education

The name of the company was inspired by Candice’s personal life experience. Diagnosed in her early years with strong dyslexia and dyspraxia, Candice was told that she could never speak a foreign language or write it properly. Yet she came here, learned English and wrote and performed her own show: GAZES.

Improv' my French

Impossible Theatre is excited to present to schools a variety of improv shows suitable for children and teenagers. These performances are here to help learners to build up  their confidence in French and to learn this language in the most entertaining possible way:

  • For Saturday FLAM schools with pupils who have French Native speakers parents:
We are coming with a 45min improv show in French where children will be able to participate and create alongside the actors. Our shows can be purely entertaining or can be educative. You can tell us which subject (Louis XIV, Charles Perrault's fairy tales) you would like us to work on with the young audience.

  • For Primary and Secondary English schools:
We are proposing a funny way to learn French as a foreign language. An immersive improv French show where pupils will have to act and speak in French with the actors. We offer to teachers the opportunity to team up with the company and to tell us which theme they would like the pupils to work on. Lessons and vocabulary sheets can be provided two weeks before the date of the show.

  •     GAZES is the first original creation launched by Impossible Theatre. Inspired by the tragic life of Marilyn Monroe and by the world of burlesque shows, Candice Morel chose to write and act in a one-woman-show centred on a young Cabaret dancer in the twenties. This original play is a glamorous and thrilling piece of work written in English and intended for a mature audience. Alexiane Cazenave, another French actress, joined in to direct Candice's work while Caroline Dargelos came as an advisor and theatre tech.

  • In this play Miss Penney Penney is a sexy, funny and bubbly cabaret dancer. Everybody loves her burlesque performances and every night many men are acclaiming and applauding her. But nobody knows Anna, the young woman sequestrated and manipulated by Mr Castello, the landlord of the cabaret. Despite the twenties era, GAZES highlights with sharpness the unchanged women conditions about their body and beauty. Is Mister Castello a real character or only the pressuring mirror of society?

Sorry, registration has ended.

GAZES tells the story of a famous cabaret dancer "The fantastic Miss Penney Penney". As the story of her life unfolds we get to wonder: is her life as perfect as she says? The show mixing burlesque, dance and drama will draw the audience in a shattered life. Can we really see beyond appearances?
